Gaming Heavens 2009 — Present

A community based around the gaming culture. Created by gamers for gamers, Gaming Heavens is a rapidly growing entity that aims to provide a place for people of all backgrounds to discuss their favourite hobby.

Established in the summer of 2009 by Marty Joosten, Gaming Heavens is the lovechild of two other defunct gaming websites. I joined the team later that year and helped with a complete revamping of the website.

DawnSociety 2010 — Present

DawnSociety is the evolution of MechSociety, a site that was dedicated to the game MechScape. However, MechScape was scrapped and another game, called Stellar Dawn, took its place. DawnSociety is now doing for Stellar Dawn what MechSociety did for MechScape.

We will be working hard to provide a place for people to talk about Stellar Dawn and share the latest news about the project. When the time comes, we will also be able to provide support for any sort of diverse content that is thrown at us.

Lighthouse Christian Academy 2010

Lighthouse Christian Academy was started in the fall of 1987 in an effort to provide a challenging curriculum for students in a loving Christian environment. Today, they teach students from grades K-8.

My goal was to improve the experience of the prospective parent wishing to send their child to LCA. The previous website was constructed with Microsoft FrontPage. Now it’s being managed by CushyCMS with a custom back-end system. ‘Nuff said.

MechSociety 2008 — 2010

MechSociety aimed to provide some of the best content and interaction with the MechScape community. I developed and managed the site, with some big help from the staff.

However, since the end of the MechScape project and the official announcement of Stellar Dawn, MechSociety has been replaced by DawnSociety. We will be working under this name to provide the very best Stellar Dawn content that we possibly can.

Think Coupons 2010

Think Coupons is a gigantic database of coupons for everything — from household items to department store fliers. New content is submitted daily and users are able to interact by both voting on the coupons and commenting.

I came in to assist the developer in creating an interface. He concentrated on the core CMS while I worked on the design and front-end coding.

Always Ready Repair 2010

Josepha Lamarca did the design and client relations while I focused on the development of the .psd files he sent me.

This was a fun project because I was able to be creative in how I solved some of the design problems that are easy enough to make in Photoshop, but hard to duplicate in the browser. When it was done, we had a complete and reliable website that worked fantastically well in a multitude of browsers.

Nortad 2009

Nortad Canada classifieds is a free Canadian website to advertise, buy, and sell your used items, products, and services.

Boy! This one was frustrating! I worked with designer Joseph Lamarca in turning an aging CMS with an even older looking design into something that was much friendlier to users. The catch was that I was only able to work with the CSS! Talk about a pain, when you’re dealing with an ungodly lack of selectors and tables up the yin-yang.

Cool Canucks 2009

A Canadian blog and community targeted toward housewives who want to save money while shopping.

I designed and coded this custom WordPress theme and implemented it to the client’s standards, keeping the target audience in mind. The key was to keep the interface as simple as possible. The content may be a different story though (and it’s out of my control!).
