10 Unique Album Covers

The art on the cover of an album reflects the style of the artist and what their music sounds like. I don’t know if it’s coincidence, but I find that a lot of really great songs are accompanied by some equally great album art. Perhaps that’s because I’m totally anal about my album art (I can’t stand having placeholder covers in my library). Anyway, I just thought I’d share a few that always seem to pop out whenever I’m scrubbing through my library. Who knows, some of these might give you some ideas for a creative project.

10 Beautiful Kinetic Typography Videos

I’ve always loved typography used as the focal point in motion graphic videos. I’ve even tried my hand at making them. Needless to say, I wasn’t successful due to the lack of patience on my part. However, that made me further appreciate the time and effort that these people have put into making these videos.

Sure, they’re cool, but take into account that each movement of text is scripted and perhaps you will understand the almost artistic beauty of these videos.

These videos are not order in any specific way.

Designing Cloudy

I challenged myself to design a basic site in an hour or less while taking a screenshot every 10 seconds. At what ended up being 1 hour and 9 minutes, I missed my mark - but only by a little bit. Overall, the end result is decent, but nothing spectacular. Given more time I would have probably refined the header section a bit more and spiced up the welcome area. Keeping in mind the time constraints, the simplicity and barrenness can be over looked, in my opinion. Look for the full size image after the jump.

I would be lying if I said this wasn’t Twitter inspired. I initially started with an ugly black colour palette in mind but quickly swapped that for a clean, white and blue scheme. From there, I immediately thought of clouds — that’s where cloud-no9’s brushes came in handy. Admittedly, the placement of everything isn’t very original, but that’s alright.

I probably won’t end up converting the psd to xhtml, but if someone wants to, or just wants the psd, leave a comment and I’ll send it to you.

Hopefully, if I do another one of these videos, the end result will be much more interesting. It should be noted that I still consider myself an ametuer at web design.

Google Suggestions

Alright, so I was trying to see if MSN was down by Googling “is msn down”, and some somewhat comical suggestions popped up when I punched in the first word. This sparked a short-lived Googling frenzy. Here are my highlights.

It’s over… and apparently it was a success. Billions (not really) of people showed up, and enjoyed themselves… for the most part. Worlds 126 and 127 filled up completely, hours before the event even started.

I personally hung out with Regicidal1 for a while, and we went over to Clan Wars and lost multiple times. I pwned with my Mith stuff… But hey, who cares about me?

I know, I’ve already completely re-vamped the site this week, but I was really hating that black and gray theme I had going on, so I came up with a new one. Some things still don’t fit (the navigation buttons and the links at the bottom of the page for example), but I’ll change those down the road… I’ll promise you this time that this design will last at least a week this time…
